| | We would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who slept in a cardboard box at Vale Castle on friday night. We hope you enjoyed your night under the stars as much as we did. You have played such an important part in the livelihood of literally thousands of people in Uganda, South Africa and Lesotho by giving up your own comfort for a night.
An incredible £6,000 was raised from about 100 attendees. The funds you raised is being used to enable Hope for a Child trainers to start and run village savings and loans schemes amongst the very poor. These schemes are run with groups of around 20 - 25 adults, and the results so far are startling. The effect of these adults with growing and thriving businesses, increasing income, the ownership, vision and hope of their own mini co-operative bank, financial security in savings and the support and accountability of a tightly knitted group of friends sends ripples through the whole community. Instead of receiving hand-outs, these people are given a hand-up. Their children who had little hope now have hope. To read more about these groups click here...
