| Hope for a Child is a charity based in Guernsey, United Kingdom. We support orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda, with the aim of replicating what we do in many other countries. We have a talented and committed team of volunteers who enable us to expand our operation and keep our overheads low.
Hope for a Child was established in 2007 by Roy and Sue Herring. In 2004 they adopted Isobel, a beautiful baby girl from an orphanage in Guandong, China, to join their family of 3 boys. That experience changed their lives for ever, as they became aware of the plight of millions of HIV/AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children around the world.
Hope for a Child is a faith based organisation, and operates with Christian values.

| Roy Herring
Roy is the joint founder of Hope for a Child, with his wife Sue. He
provides vision and strategic direction, and builds relationships with
project partners in Africa, and with our supporting partners. He works
for 2e2 Group plc, as a
part time business development manager, and devotes three days a week
to working with Hope for a Child. Sue is an occupational therapist,
with experience of providing care in multi-disciplinary teams in the community. She is a full time mother
to Isobel. Together they have a passion to enable children who have no
hope to be built into loving families and to alleviate poverty in
their lives
Louise Smith
Louise manages Hope for a Child's child welfare projects and the
'abandoned' fund raising events. She works for NRG International as a
business manager, and part time for Hope for a Child. She has
experience in business development, operations, procurement
and project management, within BT and Specsavers. She is married to
Philip. Louise has a heart to make a difference in the lives of children who have very little hope. She has been stirred to enable the
welfare and livelihood of
children to be transformed, in families and communities who are in the
most desperate situations.
