Hope for a Child is supported by churches, groups and individuals from most Christian denominations and movements.
In Africa we serve children, families and communities regardless of their ethnic origin or religious beliefs.
What’s your destiny?
In Genesis, Abraham had been promised much - a promised land, and many children. But he looked beyond that, to his destiny, to the City of God, where he would be with God forever.
Your destiny is to live intimately with God for ever
Starting right now
and along the way, to....
- preach the gospel
- serve the poor
- make disciples
- raise many leaders
- plant new churches
- impact society
In your own church, and to go to the nations of the world.
How are churches planted?
By preaching the gospel + Serving the poor in the community
Hope for a Child is part of the church planting process, and impacts society.
We work in parts of Africa where there are many people unreached by the gospel and there is extreme poverty. (50% of world’s population earns under 50p/day)
Handouts & dependency v sustainable development?
- Sustainable development is the only way forward
- Helping people to help themselves.
- An end to a dependency culture
The aim of Hope for a Child is to enable sustainable development. To give a hand up rather than a hand out.
You can
Sponsor a Church based WorkerWe sponsor workers in the areas of: Income, Wellbeing, Health, or Nutrition
Income: “Sponsor a Trainer” for Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA)
Wellbeing: “Sponsor a Welfare Worker” for vulnerable children, HIV/AIDS, families
The limitation to the work is now solely on the number of people who will “sponsor a worker”. We are seeking
Hope for a Child Ambassadors in each UK church who will actively promote the work through talking to small groups, and encouraging people to sponsor.
There is potential for many more workers in the near future throughout NewFrontiers and other church communities in South Africa, Lesotho, Uganda.
As VSLA and business schemes are established, and families and community members rise above poverty, the churches will increasingly be able to fund their own expansion, and support their own welfare workers
