Children’s Nutrition— Sweet Potatoes

One important way to change a child’s life forever is to enable her to eat nutritious food — many children experiencing poverty do not get enough nutrients for their bodies and brains to develop properly.

With our partners we help families to grow orange sweet potatoes, which are powerful little pouches of goodness, full of important nutrients for child development. One small sweet potato contains 100% of a child’s daily requirement of vitamin A as well as lots of vitamin C.

We give communities sweet potato vines, along with the training in how to grow and store them. The vines multiply, and some are passed on to others in the community, multiplying the impact.

Because of your help, 284 children are benefitting from this initiative so far this year.
